Last week we visited Strand Brewing Company for a Business & Beer networking event which is a on Thursday evenings at different micro breweries and gastropubs in the Torrance, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach and El Segundo, California area. The beer in the photo to the left was the Black IPA which is always good. Strand Brewing Company is located 23520 Telo Ave # 2 Torrance, California. If you are looking for a few good beers then you should give Strand Brewing a try. You can see all the photos from that event at Got Baddog.
So far we have had a month of Business & Beer at several different locations, with 15 – 20 small business owners at each event. Not always the same people but many have enjoyed the night of networking and supporting other local small business that have american hand craft beers on draft.
Tomorrow we head to The Rockefeller located at 422 Pier Avenue in Hermosa Beach, California. We meet from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M., no dues, no requirements other than buy yourself a beer and lets talk. Be sure to bring your business cards. Check out Business & Beer and join our mailing list to keep updated on where we will meet! Like your updates through Facebook? I have had a long week and looking forward to Business & Beer at The Rockefeller! I hope to see you there!
On day 5 of American Craft Beer Week we stopped by three different local brewing companies. We started off at Monkish Brewing Company located at 20311 South Western Avenue Torrance, California. Lloyd enjoyed a sampler and I went for a glass of their Feminist beer. The Feminist is Belgian-style tripel ale spiced with hibiscus, yummy. They described this beer as being heavily infused with hibiscus and it displays a pink tinge. The beer greets you with a malty sweetness that quickly dissipates into a dry and tart grapefruit, lemonade finish. I really enjoyed this beer, so much that it took out Batch 100 by the Strand Brewing Company as my favorite. I usually lean towards dark beers so this one was a surprise for me.
Next we headed over to El Segundo Brewing Company which is located at 140 Main Street El Segundo, California. Lloyd went for the flight and I went for the Hyperion’s Double Stout. They describe this beer as being for chocolate lovers. A bit on the sweet side, with a nice dark roasted coffee bitterness to balance. A huge chocolate presence throughout supported by a heady, velvety texture with creamy carbonation. Welcome to my favorites list Hyperion’s Double Stout.
Finally we ended our evening with a stop at Strand Brewing Company which is located at 23520 Telo Avenue # 2, Torrance, California. Since I already had a Batch 100 earlier this week at the Select Beer Store, I decided to try the Beach House. The Beach House is an Amber Ale that they describe as a slightly hoppier amber. Hoppy but not bitter – well within the style guidelines. Floral nose, nutty and having a full malt characteristics. I enjoyed this beer as well.
I took the first photo with my Android Motorola Xoom and I edited it with Google Picasa. The last two photos I took with my point and shoot camera which is a Sony Cyber-shot and I edited these with Adobe Photoshop. American Craft Beer week day 3 of our journey through this week. Yesterday we headed over to 1321 Taproom in Torrance, California to enjoy our first American craft beer of the day. I had the Old Chub which was a great start. It is an scotch ale with the description as a rich pudding taste balanced with cinnamon and brown sugar and it was yummy.
The bartender was very nice and the atmosphere was enjoyable. If you are enjoying craft beer week in Torrance, California, you may want to stop in for one of their American craft beers on tap. I recommend the Old Chub if you like dark beer, it was really nice. 1321 Taproom is located at 1321 Sartori Avenue Torrance, California.
Next we headed over to the Hudson House in Redondo Beach, California to have another beer and dinner. I had the Unita Organic Black Lager since it was the only dark beer on tap. It was pretty good one to end with for the night. We also shared their hamburger with shoestring fries. I did really enjoy their hamburger more than any others I have had a brew pubs. Hudson House is located at 514 North Pacific Coast Hwy Redondo Beach, California.
I took these photos with my Motorola Xoom and edited them with Google Picasa. If you want to see the high quality photos from this American Craft Beer week head over to Got Baddog to see his view of these craft beers.
