Brewco Manhattan Beach & Simmzy’s Pub

Last night we had a late start for day 4 of American Craft Beer Week. We headed to Brewco in Manhattan Beach, California located at 124 Manhattan Beach Boulevard. I went with the Cismontane Black Dawn (Nitro) brewed with gourmet coffee, brown sugar and oats. This craft beer was rich & complex, very creamy with a hint of hops. It was very good!

We also enjoyed the Spinach & Artichoke Dip which came with toasted sourdough bread and fresh tortilla chips. It was probably one of the best spinach and artichoke dips I have tried. It had plenty of artichokes, bread and chips and it also came with fresh salsa. All of it was yummy.

On our walk back to the car we decided we would step into Simmzy’s to try another American Craft Beer if there was room. We got lucky there was enough room to squeeze in by the bar. I had the Firestone Parabola which just came out this month. This barrel aged imperial stout features bold bourbon and tobacco aromas with a rich dark chocolate, charred oak flavor. I did not really care for it but Lloyd seemed to really enjoy it, I think he started to have beer envy. I am starting to think the oak flavor dark beers are less enjoyable to me, that is twice this week that I did not like an oak flavored beer. Simmzy’s Pub is located at 229 Manhattan Beach Boulevard Manhattan Beach, California.

1321 Taproom & Hudson House

A great start to our third day of American Craft Beer starting with 1321 Taproom with an Old Chub.

American Craft Beer week day 3 of our journey through this week. Yesterday we headed over to 1321 Taproom in Torrance, California to enjoy our first American craft beer of the day. I had the Old Chub which was a great start. It is an scotch ale with the description as a rich pudding taste balanced with cinnamon and brown sugar and it was yummy.

The bartender was very nice and the atmosphere was enjoyable. If you are enjoying craft beer week in Torrance, California, you may want to stop in for one of their American craft beers on tap. I recommend the Old Chub if you like dark beer, it was really nice. 1321 Taproom is located at 1321 Sartori Avenue  Torrance, California.

Next we headed over to the Hudson House in Redondo Beach, California to have another beer and dinner. I had the Unita Organic Black Lager since it was the only dark beer on tap. It was pretty good one to end with for the night. We also shared their hamburger with shoestring fries. I did really enjoy their hamburger more than any others I have had a brew pubs. Hudson House is located at 514 North Pacific Coast Hwy Redondo Beach, California.

American Craft Beer Week

Three dark beers from Select Beer Store in Redondo Beach, California.

This week is American Craft Beer week and I have been enjoying each evening so far this week! Yesterday we went to the Select Beer Store and the Redondo Beach Brewing Company. At Select Beer Store I was able to enjoy three samples of dark beers they had on tap. This photo is of those three dark beers. First dark beer is the Strand Batch 100 Stout, second was the Smog City Ground Works Coffee Porter and the last one was Monkis Anomaly. I enjoyed each one of these but I think my favorite was the Strand Batch 100 Stout, yum.

So finally I have a new category for this blog, Beer & Wine! This week has been fun so far and I am sure I will be enjoying the entire week.
