Today we went to The Froth Awards by Easy Reader at Saint Rocke for Saint Patrick’s Day. It was a fun event with local craft beers, local bands and local food. The local flavors of great food and craft beer were paired and served throughout the day. The pairing that won were The Rockefeller ahi won ton shell cajun spiced with fresh guac and jicama slaw & El Segundo Brewery Blue House IPA. Other pairings included The Brewery at Abigale Death or Glory IPA with The Standing Room chicken skin tacos and a mango sauce, Monkish Brewery Feminist Trippel with Tin Roof Bistro chilled mussels, Strand Brewing Company Russian Imperial Stout with Hot’s Kitchen lamb shoulder in a stout reduction sauce with candied baby carrots and then we finished off with Smog City Brewing Chocolate Coffee Porter and an almond biscotti from Simmzy’s. The great bands included Hang Dog Expression, Johnny Jump Up and Los Sindicate.
Lloyd took me kicking and screaming today, okay just a little grouchy since we were out of coffee this morning. Luckily Saint Rocke had some and I was good to go after that. My vote today was for Strand Imperial Russian Stout with the lamb shoulder from Hot’s Kitchen. I could only vote between Strand with Hots and Smog City Chocolate Coffee Porter with the almond biscotti. Allergic to both shell fish and avocado I skipped food with them in it, I also am not a hop head so I do not go for hoppy bear, I did sip some though. Lamb is a favorite for me and Strand has won me over with their Russian Imperial Stout.
